He holds an M.Div. from <a href=\"https:\/\/rts.edu\/campuses\/orlando\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Reformed Theological Seminary<\/a> (2000), an M.Phil. in Bible Interpretation (2007) and a Ph.D. in Ancient Studies from <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sun.ac.za\/english\/faculty\/arts\/ancient-studies\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Stellenbosch University<\/a> (2011). His doctoral research included studies at the <a href=\"https:\/\/en.huji.ac.il\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Hebrew University of Jerusalem<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/ptsem.edu\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Princeton Theological Seminary,<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.universiteitleiden.nl\/en\/education\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Leiden University<\/a>. He published <a href=\"https:\/\/www.amazon.com\/stores\/Eli-Lizorkin-Eyzenberg\/author\/B0135PJVWE?ref=ap_rdr&amp;isDramIntegrated=true&amp;shoppingPortalEnabled=true&amp;ccs_id=0a0e4abc-dc99-4409-bc2e-a432ff44fb17\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">numerous books<\/a> and articles. His work includes a monograph in the prestigious <a href=\"https:\/\/www.peeters-leuven.be\/detail.php?search_key=9789042925748&amp;series_number_str=642&amp;lang=en\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Corpus Scriptorum Christianorum Orientalium<\/a>. He co-founded a peer-reviewed <a href=\"https:\/\/www.jjmjs.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Journal of the Jesus Movement in Its Jewish Setting.<\/a> He is fluent in English, Hebrew, and Russian and loves dogs and cats and the Pirates of the Caribbean and Seinfeld series.
